After getting married to my amazing wife in January 2013 I got my free time back and so armed with a fab new surname ‘Fox’ – Mrs Fox’s Finery & Fancies was born. I’m a vintage girl at heart who has stepped into the modern world of technology so I can share with you all my love of vintage, my finds and anything that takes my fancy.
Ever since I can remember I have always had a love of old clothes and music, I get it from my Grandparents. It never gets old looking at their wedding photo from 1962, my Nana looking so youthful and beautiful in her short wedding dress and my Grandad looking like Buddy Holly!
My Grandad played his part in educating me about strong female singers of the past. I remember him introducing me to many of them on cassette tape! Ever since I was little my Nana would regularly take me shopping. She loves to shop! We would spend happy hours together in charity shops, often with her friend and sidekick Margaret.
Over the years I have experimented with different fashion styles – some with more success than others but it’s been the fashion of the 1950s that has stayed with me. I did and still do spend all my money on clothes, much to my long-suffering partner’s despair.
For me loving vintage is about the feel of the fabric on your skin, that distinctive musty scent of a well thumbed book and the excitement of holding an old photograph in your hand, seeing a long forgotten memory captured and preserved. That’s why one of my key aims is to share as much physical media directly with you as I can rather than relying on images found on familiar search engine results.
It’s all about the treasure hunt.
I hope you enjoy my blog and do let me know what you think!
