Oh my!

Last weekend was my first fair of 2014, Monica’s Vintage Fair and oh my did it go well!

The fair has been going for a couple of years now and is run by the wonderful Claire. Over time it’s got bigger and bigger which has resulted in moving location to a senior school. It’s simply been going from strength to strength! And as it happens it’s based in my home town, amazing.

It’s the biggest fair I have done to date and I didn’t stop all day. Well, I stopped for a bit of tea and cake (of course) with some friends.

I met some great people and spotted some amazing outfits. This couple were colour matching and looked like they were having a great day out.

I managed to get a picture of two of the Medway Lindy Hoppers when they were taking a very well earned rest from the dancing. The lady brought one of my 1940s navy dresses. I am looking forward to seeing her wearing it.

The fair was so busy, the pop-up tea room sold out of all 30 large cakes. The queue for tea didn’t stop all day. We were treated to singing by the wonderful ‘My Favourite Things‘. I simply adored these dresses worn by them whilst they rocked the vintage tunes. They are girls after my own heart and looked fabulous in a variety of outfits, one for each set. A girl can never have too many dresses after all can they?

In between selling my little vintage stockings off I also managed to check out the other stalls at the fair and saw some pieces I liked – of course.

I also had some great neighbours which always makes a fair fun.

I was really pleased with my stall space and I think by arranging the clothes in blocks of colour (well as much as you can do with vintage clothes!) it helped people to browse more easily.

I also tried a new way of showing my scarves off and sold more than I have before – so it must have worked!

But to top off the whole day I had a guest of honour – the wife came to help and she even wore a Vivien of Holloway dress. She did a great job of being my sales assistant.

After all that I went home, had two glasses of wine and went to bed. Too much fun for little old me.

Have you been to a good vintage fair recently? Get anything good?

  1. This looks like my perfect day out. I must go to some fairs outside London soon!
You and your wife both look gorgeous.
I really miss selling at vintage fairs, maybe I should start again! Xxx

  2. We are off to Vintage Nation at the weekend ran by Judys Affordable vintage fairs. Theres the full shubang – singers, dancers and a band. I can also get out the spring stock at last – no lugging the heavy coats around. Cant wait – remember to check This Charming Vintage next week to see how we got on. x
