This weekend I had great fun doing some arts and crafts (to some it may seem a bit sad, but to me it was a perfect way to spend my time). I felt like I haven’t done any crafts for a while and with Vintage Fairs coming up I thought it was time to get organised.
A few months ago I got my hands on a few boxes of buttons. At the time I was working on three bouquets and so I used some of the buttons in these and then put the rest in a cupboard as they needed sorting.
In the boxes there were some amazing buttons, I knew I had to do something to make them ready for a fair and so they could go to a nice new home. So I got to work.
I pulled out a display box I had brought a while back with no real plan of what I was going to use it for, but thought it would come in handy at some point and the time had come.
I covered this in vintage style wallpaper I had not yet used and sewed the buttons onto luggage labels. I have to say I was really pleased with the results. I am hoping this will not only look great on my stall, but will help to display the buttons nicely. I’m a little in love with the black and white ones and not sure I can part with them, but I know someone could add these to an old cardigan and it would look wonderful.
If all this isn’t enough for you button-wise, I also made my WI competition entry for February. For the next meeting the brief is to make fake food by sewing, painting, etc etc. So I bought a Christmas decoration in the John Lewis sale for the bargain price of 95p:
Covered it in buttons and I now have a button apple!
So there you have it – a full weekend of crafts. So I didn’t clean the house, but at least my buttons got some love. Anyone out there like buttons also?
